We begin our Sunday reflection with some thoughts on Monday, December 10. On December 10, in Oslo, Norway, two persons will be honoured with the Nobel Peace Prize. For this year the recipients of this Prize are – Nadia Murad and Denis Mukwege. Here are some excerpts from the announcement made by the Norwegian Nobel Committee on October 5, 2018:

The Norwegian Nobel Committee has decided to award the Nobel Peace Prize for 2018 to Denis Mukwege and Nadia Murad for their efforts to end the use of sexual violence as a weapon of war and armed conflict. Both laureates have made a crucial contribution to focusing attention on, and combating, such war crimes. Denis Mukwege is the helper who has devoted his life to defending these victims. Nadia Murad is the witness who tells of the abuses perpetrated against herself and others. Each of them in their own way has helped to give greater visibility to war-time sexual violence, so that the perpetrators can be held accountable for their actions.

The physician Denis Mukwege has spent large parts of his adult life helping the victims of sexual violence in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Since the Panzi Hospital was established in Bukavu in 1999, Dr. Mukwege and his staff have treated thousands of patients who have fallen victim to such assaults. Most of the abuses have been committed in the context of a long-lasting civil war that has cost the lives of more than six million Congolese.

Denis Mukwege is the foremost, most unifying symbol, both nationally and internationally, of the struggle to end sexual violence in war and armed conflicts. His basic principle is that “justice is everyone’s business”… He has repeatedly condemned impunity for mass rape and criticised the Congolese government and other countries for not doing enough to stop the use of sexual violence against women as a strategy and weapon of war.

Nadia Murad is herself a victim of war crimes. She refused to accept the social codes that require women to remain silent and ashamed of the abuses to which they have been subjected. She has shown uncommon courage in recounting her own sufferings and speaking up on behalf of other victims.

Nadia Murad is a member of the Yazidi minority in northern Iraq, where she lived with her family in the remote village of Kocho. In August 2014 the Islamic State (IS) launched a brutal, systematic attack on the villages of the Sinjar district, aimed at exterminating the Yazidi population. In Nadia Murad’s village, several hundred people were massacred. The younger women, including underage children, were abducted and held as sex slaves. While a captive of the IS, Nadia Murad was repeatedly subjected to rape and other abuses. Her assaulters threatened to execute her if she did not convert to their hateful, inhuman version of Islam.

Nadia Murad is just one of an estimated 3 000 Yazidi girls and women who were victims of rape and other abuses by the IS army. The abuses were systematic, and part of a military strategy. Thus they served as a weapon in the fight against Yazidis and other religious minorities.

After a three-month nightmare Nadia Murad managed to flee. Following her escape, she chose to speak openly about what she had suffered. In 2016, at the age of just 23, she was named the UN’s first Goodwill Ambassador for the Dignity of Survivors of Human Trafficking.

This year’s Nobel Peace Prize is firmly embedded in the criteria spelled out in Alfred Nobel’s will. Denis Mukwege and Nadia Murad have both put their personal security at risk by courageously combating war crimes and seeking justice for the victims. They have thereby promoted the fraternity of nations through the application of principles of international law.

Dr Mukwege has launched scathing attacks about the world's lacklustre response to sexual violence in conflict. "We have been able to draw a red line against chemical weapons, biological weapons and nuclear arms," he told AFP in 2016. "Today we must also draw a red line against rape as a weapon of war."

Nobel Peace Prize will be awarded on December 10, Monday. On the same day we commemorate the Human Rights Day. This year we celebrate the 70^th Anniversary of the Universal Declaration of the Human Rights. The Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR)… was proclaimed by the United Nations General Assembly in Paris on 10 December 1948 as a common standard of achievements for all peoples and all nations.

In stark contrast to this declaration, today’s world is witnessing horrible violation of human rights in almost all the countries. We pray that those in power, wake up to this great injustice and help pave the way of justice and peace – the way of the Lord. Today’s liturgy is an invitation to “prepare the way of the Lord” (Luke 3: 4-6)

Preparations are in full swing for Christmas. But, what kind of preparations? Gifts, decorations, cakes and greeting cards… Here is a story shared by Father Joseph Pellegrino in his homily for the 2^nd Sunday of Advent.

I heard a story about a man in one of those high price shopping malls, the Galleria.  He caused quite a commotion among those doing their Christmas shopping.  He would sit near a beautifully decorated fountain near the mall's food court and would talk to people who would relax on the benches next to him. He wasn't offensive, not really.  In fact, there was a certain kindness and sincerity about him that drew people to him.

But he was not good for business. He would ask people why they spent so much money for Christmas, and why they allowed themselves to become so obsessed and stressed over this tinselled holiday. Sometimes he would tease, "We like our Christmas with a lot of sugar on it, don't we?" Then he would say, "Christmas is about hope and love, isn't it?  The best gifts we can give is to give kindness and compassion to each other.  Why don't you forgive or reconcile with family or friends you've lost over the years?  The Spirit of the Christ child should embrace the entire year, not just Christmas."

Many of the people who listened to him would nod in agreement.  Some decided to quit shopping for the time being and go home to be with their families. Others went and bought an extra toy or some clothes for charity.  Some even left the mall to find a quiet place for a few moments of prayer.

Soon, word got out to the store managers about this man.  They had security escort him from the premises.  They realized that he wasn't really hurting anyone.  But he had to go, they said.  He was ruining everyone's Christmas.

When I read the last line of this story, I was struck by what the managers said… They said that the man was ‘ruining everyone’s Christmas’. Who is this ‘everyone’? The managers could have spoken for themselves saying that the man was ruining ‘their’ Christmas. Instead, they spoke for all of us… They spoke of everyone’s Christmas. This is a well cultivated strategy of the business people. They would speak for us… think for us… Thus, they would try to define for us what Christmas is… We can easily pick up the false façade they were putting up to hide their selfish interest. When we think of the man, we can also sense that he had no selfish motives to question the customers coming to the mall. I felt as if this man was the modern ‘avatar’ of John the Baptist.

If John the Baptist had come to our shopping malls, he would have raised similar questions. Being the firebrand that he was, he would have ventured further to question the motives of the managers too. His confrontation would have been more dramatic… More about John the Baptist, in the 3^rd week of Advent!

For the time being, let’s turn our attention to the managers. Although the hidden agenda of these managers do not deserve our attention, we need to learn a lesson or two from their dedication in making every festival count.

For the business people, Christmas arrived in October… Yes, most of the business centres in Europe began celebrating Christmas in October. In the U.S., it was soon after the Thanksgiving Day. In India, soon after Deepavali. Rain or shine, floods or draught, their business plans do not change much. For them, extending festivities is a sure way to make more money. The list of official festivals released by the government and other religious institutions are not enough for them. They would surely add some more… Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, Valentine’s Day… For the business people every day offers a chance to celebrate. Given a chance, they would be happy to have even 400 days per year and all of them… festival days! The more, the merrier…

We can surely learn a lesson or two from the business people.

Lesson number one:  If they can extend the festival season, if they can invent festival days for their own end, we can as well convert our dull dreary days into days of celebration. It just requires a change in perspective, a change in attitude and a change of heart - a heart that is willing to celebrate even the small miracles of daily life!

Lesson number two: I am sure we have heard of brainstorming sessions. Business people make use of this more often. They spend lots of time and energy in these sessions to come up with their campaigns for the festival. This session also talks of innovations. No two festivals, no two seasons can be the same. Every festival, every season should be unique, special.

How great it would be if all of us sat down to do some brainstorming before every festival we celebrate. Such brainstorming will help us celebrate these festivals in unique, special, meaningful ways. Probably we don’t have the time for such sessions. We need to buy things, decorate the house, entertain guests… Hence, no time for innovations… just take the beaten track. As long as we take this safe route, the business world will win. If we sit down and look at these festivals from different perspectives, we can surely bring more meaning to these special days, as the man in the mall was trying to do.

Whether we like it or not, the business world, especially the advertising world imposes itself on us day after day with its messages – the ‘what’ and ‘how’ of every festival. Instead of accepting such impositions passively, we can approach these festivals on our terms. We can surely make every day of the year special… every day can become Christmas. Christmas can start in October… no, no, even earlier. This Christmas is not about decorations and gifts! This Christmas is about recognising Emmanuel, God-with-us, especially in those who are denied their human rights!

இவ்வாண்டு, நொபெல் அமைதி விருதுக்கு, ஈராக் நாட்டின், யாசிதி (Yazidi) என்ற சிறுபான்மை இனத்தைச் சேர்ந்த, நாடியா முராட் (Nadia Murad) என்ற இளம்பெண்ணும், காங்கோ ஜனநாயக குடியரசில் பணிபுரியும் டென்னிஸ் மக்வெகே (Denis Mukwege) என்ற மருத்துவரும் தெரிவு செய்யப்பட்டுள்ளனர். "பெண்களை, பாலியல் வன்கொடுமைகளுக்கு உள்ளாக்கும் போர்க்குற்றத்தை, உலகின் கவனத்திற்குக் கொணர்ந்ததன் வழியே, இவ்விருவரும் உலக அமைதிக்கு வழி வகுத்துள்ளனர்" என்று, நொபெல் விருதுக்குழு அறிவித்தது.

25 வயதான இளம்பெண் நாடியா முராட் அவர்கள், 2014ம் ஆண்டு, இஸ்லாமிய அரசு என்று தங்களையே அழைத்துக்கொள்ளும் ISIS எனப்படும் தீவிரவாதக் குழுவினரால் பிடிபட்ட பல்லாயிரம் இளம்பெண்களில் ஒருவர். பாலியல் அடிமையாக, மூன்று மாதங்கள், பல்வேறு கொடுமைகளை அடைந்த இவர், தீவிரவாதிகளின் பிடியிலிருந்து தப்பித்து, தற்போது, ஜெர்மனியில் வாழ்ந்துவருகிறார். ISIS குழுவினரின் கொடுமைகளைப் பற்றியும், யாசிதி இனத்தவருக்கு எதிராக நிகழும் அநீதிகள் குறித்தும், நாடியா அவர்கள், உலக அரங்குகளில் பேசிவருகிறார். 2017ம் ஆண்டு, மே மாதம், இளம்பெண் நாடியா அவர்கள், வத்திக்கானுக்குச் சென்று, திருத்தந்தை பிரான்சிஸ் அவர்களை நேரில் சந்தித்து, தன் யாசிதி இனத்தவர் சார்பில், விண்ணப்பம் ஒன்றை சமர்ப்பித்தார். 63 வயது நிறைந்த மருத்துவர், டென்னிஸ் மக்வெகே அவர்கள், காங்கோ ஜனநாயக குடியரசில், புக்காவு (Bukavu) என்ற நகரில், மருத்துவமனை ஒன்றை நிறுவி, கடந்த 20 ஆண்டுகளுக்கும் மேலாகப் பணியாற்றி வருகிறார். தன் நாட்டில் நிகழ்ந்த உள்நாட்டு மோதல்களாலும், தற்போது அந்நாட்டில் இயங்கிவரும் போராட்டக் குழுக்களாலும் பாலியல் வன்கொடுமைகளை அடைந்த ஆயிரமாயிரம் பெண்களுக்கு, டென்னிஸ் அவர்கள், மருத்துவ உதவிகள் செய்து வருகிறார். இவர் மீது கொலை முயற்சிகள் நடந்தாலும், தன் பணியைத் தொடர்ந்து வருகிறார்.

அக்டோபர் 5ம் தேதி, நொபெல் அமைதி விருது அறிவிக்கப்பட்ட வேளையில், டென்னிஸ் அவர்கள், நார்வே நாட்டு ஊடகம் ஒன்றுக்கு அளித்த பேட்டியில், பெண்களுக்கு ஓர் அழைப்பை விடுத்தார்: "உலகெங்கும் கொடுமைகளை அடைந்துவரும் பெண்களே, நான் உங்களுக்குக் கூறவிழைவது இதுதான்: உங்களுக்குச் செவிசாய்க்க இவ்வுலகம் தயாராக உள்ளது என்பதற்கு, இவ்விருது ஓர் அடையாளமாக விளங்குகிறது. மனிதம் இவ்வுலகில் தொடர்ந்து வாழ்வதற்கு, மனிதக்கருவைத் தாங்கும் பெண்களே உதவமுடியும்".

மருத்துவர் டென்னிஸ் அவர்கள் மற்றொரு நாளிதழுக்கு வழங்கிய பேட்டியில், பெண்களுக்கு இழைக்கப்படும் இந்தக் கொடுமைகளைத் தடுக்க, உலக அரசுகள் தகுந்த முயற்சிகள் எடுக்கவில்லை என்ற கடுமையானக் கண்டனத்தை வெளியிட்டார். "போர்களில், வேதியல் ஆயுதங்களையும், நுண்ணுயிர் ஆயுதங்களையும், அணு ஆயுதங்களையும் தடைசெய்ய, அரசுகள், பல்வேறு முயற்சிகள் மேற்கொண்டுள்ளன. ஆனால், பெண்களுக்கு இழைக்கப்படும் பாலியல் வன்கொடுமைகள், போர்களில், ஓர் ஆயுதமாகப் பயன்படுத்தப்படுவதைத் தடுக்க எந்த ஓர் அரசும் இதுவரை முன்வரவில்லை" என்று கூறியுள்ளார்.

இளம்பெண் நாடியா அவர்களுக்கும், மருத்துவர் டென்னிஸ் அவர்களுக்கும், டிசம்பர் 10, இத்திங்களன்று, நார்வே நாட்டின் ஓஸ்லோ நகரில், நொபெல் அமைதி விருது வழங்கப்படும். 1901ம் ஆண்டு முதல், நொபெல் அமைதி விருது வழங்குவதற்கு, டிசம்பர் 10ம் தேதி தெரிவு செய்யப்பட்டுள்ளது. இதே டிசம்பர் 10ம் தேதி, மனித உரிமைகள் நாளை நாம் சிறப்பிக்கின்றோம். அதிலும் குறிப்பாக, மனித உரிமைகளின் அனைத்துலக அறிக்கை (Universal Declaration of Human Rights) வெளியிடப்பட்ட 70வது ஆண்டு நிறைவை, இவ்வாண்டு சிறப்பிக்கின்றோம்.

பல்வேறு நிலைகளில், அளவுகளில், வழிகளில் மீறப்படும் மனித உரிமைகளில், பெண்களுக்கு எதிராக இழைக்கப்படும் மனித உரிமை மீறல்கள், நிச்சயம், முதலான ஓர் இடத்தைப் பெற்றுள்ளது என்பதை நாம் மறுப்பதற்கில்லை. இந்த மனித உரிமை மீறலை, மனித சமுதாயத்தின் கவனத்திற்கு மீண்டும் ஓருமுறை கொணர்ந்த, நாடியா முராட், மற்றும் டென்னிஸ் மக்வெகே இருவருக்காகவும், இறைவன் சன்னதியில் நன்றி கூறுவோம். மனித உரிமைகள், அனைவருக்கும் கிடைக்கும்வண்ணம், இவ்விருவரைப் போல், போராடிவரும் ஆயிரமாயிரம் நல்ல உள்ளங்களுக்காகவும் நாம் இறைவனுக்கு நன்றி கூறுவோம்.

1948ம் ஆண்டு, டிசம்பர் 10ம் தேதி, ஐக்கிய நாடுகள் அவையில் மனித உரிமைகளின் அனைத்துலக அறிக்கை வெளியிடப்பட்டது. 30 விதிமுறைகளை மனித சமுதாயத்தின் கவனத்திற்குக் கொணர்ந்த இந்த அறிக்கையில் கூறப்பட்டுள்ள முதல் இரு விதிமுறைகளை (Article) மட்டும் இன்று நினைவுகூருவோம்:

விதிமுறை 1:

"எல்லா மனித உயிர்களும், சுதந்திரமாகவும், சரிசமமான மதிப்புடனும், உரிமைகளோடும் பிறக்கின்றனர். அறிவுத்திறனும், மனசாட்சியும் அவர்களுக்கு வழங்கப்பட்டுள்ளன; உடன்பிறந்த உணர்வுடன் ஒருவர் ஒருவருடன் நடந்துகொள்ளவேண்டும்."

விதிமுறை 2:

"இந்த அறிக்கையில் கூறப்பட்டுள்ள உரிமைகளும், சுதந்திரங்களும், இனம், நிறம், பாலினம், மொழி, மதம், அரசியல் கொள்கை, நாடு அல்லது சமுதாயம், பிறப்பு என்ற எவ்விதப் பாகுபாடும் இன்றி, அனைவருக்கும் உரியன."

மனித உரிமைகளின் அனைத்துலக அறிக்கை வெளியிடப்பட்டு, 70 ஆண்டுகள் கடந்திருந்தாலும், இனம், நிறம், பாலினம், மதம், நாடு என்று, அனைத்து வழிகளிலும், ஏற்றத்தாழ்வுகளையும், பாகுபாடுகளையும் உருவாக்கி, பல கோடி மக்களின் உரிமைகள், வெளிப்படையாகவும், மறைமுகமாகவும் பறிக்கப்பட்டு வருகின்றன. மனிதர்கள் அனைவரும் சரிசமமான உரிமைகளைப் பெறுவதற்குத் தேவையானச் சூழலை உருவாக்கும் துணிவையும், தெளிவையும் நாம் பெறவேண்டும் என்று, இந்த ஞாயிறு வழிபாட்டில் மன்றாடுவோம்.

மேடு, பள்ளங்களும், ஏற்றத்தாழ்வுகளும் இல்லாத ஒரு பாதையை உருவாக்கி, அப்பாதையில் இறைவனோடு இணைந்து நடக்க, இன்றைய ஞாயிறு வாசகங்கள் நம்மை அழைக்கின்றன. இன்று நாம் சிறப்பிக்கும், திருவருகைக் காலம் 2ம் ஞாயிறை மையப்படுத்திய சிந்தனைகளை, ஒரு கற்பனைக் காட்சியுடன் துவக்குவோம்.

கிறிஸ்மஸ் அலங்காரங்களுடன் மின்னும் ஒரு கடைவீதியில் நாம் நடந்து செல்வதாகக் கற்பனை செய்துகொள்வோம். அங்கே... "இறுதிநாள் நெருங்கியுள்ளது… ஆண்டவருக்காக வழியை ஆயத்தமாக்குங்கள்; அவருக்காக பாதையைச் செம்மையாக்குங்கள்" என்ற குரல் ஒரு பக்கம் ஒலிக்கிறது. "இன்றே இறுதிநாள்... தள்ளுபடி விற்பனையில் பொருள்களை அள்ளிச்செல்லுங்கள்" என்று வேறொரு குரல் மறுபக்கம் ஒலிக்கிறது. இவ்விரு குரல்களுக்கும் போட்டி வந்தால், எந்தக் குரல் வெல்லும் என்பது எல்லாருக்கும் தெரிந்த விஷயம். தள்ளுபடி விற்பனை பற்றி எழும் குரல், ஆன்மீக தயாரிப்புக்கு அழைப்பு விடுக்கும் அந்தக் குரலை முற்றிலும் அடக்கிவிட்டு, முன்னே வந்து நிற்கும். அந்த வர்த்தகக் குரல் வரும் திசை நோக்கி, முட்டி மோதிக்கொண்டு, கூட்டம் அலைமோதும்.

பெருநகரங்களில், கடைவீதிகள், அடுக்குமாடி கட்டிடங்களாய் மாறி உள்ளன. இத்தகையக் கடைவீதிகளுக்கு Shopping Mall என்று பெயரிட்டிருக்கிறோம். அமெரிக்காவின் Shopping Mall ஒன்றில் நிகழ்ந்ததாகச் சொல்லப்படும் ஒரு நிகழ்வு இது:

அந்த Mallல் கிறிஸ்மஸ் வியாபாரம் வெற்றிகரமாக நடந்துகொண்டிருந்தது. பொருட்கள் வாங்கிக் களைத்துப் போனவர்கள் இளைப்பாறுவதற்கு, அந்த Mallன் ஒரு பகுதியில் தனியிடம் ஒதுக்கப்பட்டிருந்தது. அவ்விடத்தில் அமர்ந்திருந்த ஒருவர், அங்கு பொருள்கள் வாங்கியவர்களிடமும், வாங்க வந்திருப்பவர்களிடமும் வலியச்சென்று பேச ஆரம்பித்தார். அவர் மிகவும் கண்ணியமாக, கனிவாகப் பேசியதால், அவர் சொன்னதை மக்கள் கேட்டனர். அவர் அங்கு அமர்ந்திருந்தவர்களிடம் ஒரு சில கேள்விகள் மட்டும் கேட்டார்: "ஏன் இவ்வளவு செலவு செய்கிறீர்கள்? கிறிஸ்மசுக்கு இத்தனை பரிசுகள் வாங்கத்தான் வேண்டுமா? நீங்கள் செலவு செய்யும் பணத்தில் பாதியை ஏழைகளோடு பகிர்ந்துகொண்டால், உங்கள் கிறிஸ்மஸ் இன்னும் மகிழ்வாக இருக்காதா? நீங்கள் பல நாட்களாக மன்னிக்க முடியாமல் கஷ்டப்படும் ஒருவரைத் தேடிச்சென்று, அவருடன் ஒப்புரவனால், அதைவிட சிறந்த கிறிஸ்மஸ் கொண்டாட்டம் இருக்க முடியுமா? இந்தக் கடைகளில் காணப்படும் கிறிஸ்மஸ் மகிழ்ச்சி உங்களுக்குச் செயற்கையாக தெரியவில்லையா?" என்று, அவர், ஒவ்வொருவரிடமும் ஒவ்வொரு வகையில் கேள்விகளை எழுப்பினார்.

அவர் சொல்வதில் இருந்த உண்மைகளை உணர்ந்த பலரும், தலையசைத்தனர். பொருள்கள் வாங்க வந்த ஒரு சிலர், மீண்டும் திரும்பிச்சென்றனர். வேறு சிலர், தாங்கள் புதுப்பிக்க விரும்பிய உறவுகளுக்காக, புதிய பரிசுப் பொருள்கள் வாங்கிச்சென்றனர். இன்னும் ஒரு சிலர், அந்த Mallல் நேரத்தைச் செலவிடுவதற்குப் பதில், அருகிலிருந்த ஒரு கோவிலுக்குச் சென்று, அமைதியாக நேரத்தைச் செலவிட்டனர்.

Mallல் உள்ள கடைகளின் உரிமையாளர்கள், இந்த மனிதரைப்பற்றிக் கேள்விப்பட்டனர். அந்த Mallன் காவலாளிகளிடம் சொல்லி அந்த மனிதர் மீண்டும் அந்த Mallக்குள் நுழையாதவாறு தடுத்தனர். அந்த மனிதரை ஏன் அவர்கள் தடைசெய்தனர் என்ற கேள்வி எழுந்தபோது, "அவர் நமது கிறிஸ்மஸ் மகிழ்ச்சியைக் கெடுத்துக் கொண்டிருக்கிறார்" என்று பதில் சொன்னார்கள். "அவர் எங்கள் கிறிஸ்மஸ் மகிழ்ச்சியைக் கெடுத்தார்" என்று, அந்த வியாபாரிகள் தங்களைப்பற்றி மட்டும் சொல்லாமல், "அவர் நமது கிறிஸ்மஸ் மகிழ்ச்சியைக் கெடுத்துக் கொண்டிருக்கிறார்" என்று, மக்களையும் தங்களோடு இணைத்துக்கொண்டு, அவர்கள் சார்பாகப் பேசினர். இது, வர்த்தகர்கள் படித்து, பழகி வைத்துள்ள வியாபாரத் தந்திரம். நமக்கும் சேர்த்து சிந்திப்பது, முடிவெடுப்பது என்று பல வழிகளிலும் வியாபாரிகள் நம்மை ஒரு மாய வலையில் கட்டிப்போட்டு வைத்துள்ளனர்.

திருமுழுக்கு யோவான் நம் நகரங்களில் உள்ள கடைவீதிகளுக்கு இன்று வந்தால், மனதைப் பாதிக்கும் கேள்விகள் எழுப்பியிருப்பார். திருமுழுக்கு யோவான் ஒரு தீப்பிழம்பாக இருந்ததால், இன்னும் ஒரு படி மேலேச் சென்று, அந்தக் கடைகளில் இருந்தோரையும் தங்கள் சுயநல வழியிலிருந்து மாறி, “ஆண்டவருக்காக வழியை ஆயத்தமாக்குங்கள்; அவருக்காக பாதையைச் செம்மையாக்குங்கள்” (லூக்கா 3: 4) என்று அவர்களையும் இறைவன் வழிக்கு அழைத்து வந்திருப்பார்.

சுயநலக் கலப்படம் எதுவும் இல்லாமல், அந்த Mall மனிதரோ, அல்லது திருமுழுக்கு யோவானோ, கிறிஸ்மஸ் என்றால் என்ன, அதை எப்படிக் கொண்டாடுவது, என்று சொல்லித்தருவதைக் கேட்கப் போகிறோமா? அல்லது, சுயநல இலாபங்களுக்காக, நமது விழாக்கள் மீது, வேறுபட்ட அர்த்தங்களைத் திணிக்கும் வியாபாரிகள் சொல்லித் தருவதைக் கேட்கப் போகிறோமா? "ஆண்டவருக்காக வழியை ஆயத்தமாக்குங்கள்; அவருக்காக பாதையைச் செம்மையாக்குங்கள்" என்று, திருமுழுக்கு யோவானைப் போல், நம் ஆன்மீகத் தயாரிப்புகளை நினைவுறுத்துவோரின் குரலைக் கேட்கப் போகிறோமா? அல்லது, "இன்றே கடைசி நாள்... தள்ளுபடி விற்பனையில் பொருள்களை அள்ளிச் செல்லுங்கள்" என்று வியாபாரிகள் எழுப்பும் குரலைக் கேட்கப் போகிறோமா?
